Pierre N. Tariot, MD, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry with added qualifications in geriatrics. He served as Fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research Program, then as faculty at the University of Rochester. He has been Director of the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute in Phoenix since 2006 and is a Research Professor of Psychiatry, University of Arizona. His work has focused on care and study of people with and at risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, emphasizing design and implementation of clinical trials for prevention and treatment, biomarker development, characterization and treatment of neuropsychiatric features, and demonstration of effective care. He has over 450 publications including those leading to FDA approval of new medications. He serves as co-director of the international Alzheimer’s Prevention Initiative (API). Research affiliations include the NIA, the NIMH, and the Alzheimer’s Association; he is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
