Julie McClain Downey is a communications and public affairs strategist who has worked in government, on campaigns, for elected officials, and at progressive organizations. Before joining Global Strategy Group, she spent two years as the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor, where she led and implemented communications, digital, and creative strategies in support of the Biden-Harris administration’s labor policies and accomplishments. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Strategic Communications at American Bridge 21st Century for the 2022 election cycle. She has also held senior communications positions for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Cory Booker’s presidential campaign, EMILY’s List, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, the New Hampshire Democratic Party, and Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI). Ms. McClain Downey proudly hails from New Jersey and attended the University of Pennsylvania. When not working, she and her husband, Sean, try to contain the chaos of having three children under the age of five in Chevy Chase, Md.
