Gina Green-Harris, PhD, is Director of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Center for Community Engagement and Health Partnerships in Milwaukee (CCE) and of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute Regional Milwaukee Office (WAI), as well as Co-Director of the Just Research, Investigator Training Program. CCE is designed to advance health research in underrepresented populations in a culturally inclusive manner. Specifically, CCE’s area of strategy is embedded in recruitment science strategies and frameworks to intersect health research teams with community for improved CER. This office builds upon the asset-based framework that Dr. Green-Harris implemented at the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute’s Regional Milwaukee Office. As the director of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute Regional Milwaukee Office, Dr. Green-Harris provides leadership and governance to guide and build the capacity to provide ADRD outreach services, programs, and resources and to conduct research that includes the recruitment of African Americans into ADRD research studies using culturally tailored methods. Using an asset-based approach community engaged research recruitment and retention model, we focus on advancing health equity through innovative approaches including integrating the strength of community with research ideas from investigators to develop successful research programs that are culturally tailored to address the needs of Southeastern Wisconsin’s underserved and underrepresented populations. Dr. Green-Harris is recognized as a national leader for her work in community engagement and recruitment science.
