Carlos L. Olivas III is an 11-year family caregiver, advocate, and storyteller based in Sacramento, California, where he cares for his father, who lives with Alzheimer's disease. His journey as a care partner inspired the Caregiver Mindset Project—a movement that empowers caregivers to embrace imperfection, find balance, and redefine success in dementia care. A three-time published author, Mr. Olivas contributed to the bestselling Caregiver's Advocate Vol. 2 and Vol. 3, as well as the short story anthology El Gato De Cinco Patas. He shares his story through public speaking, writing, and collaborations with organizations including Walk to End Alzheimer's, Caring Across Generations, Lorenzo's House NextGen, and Hilarity for Charity. He also serves as the distinguished co-chair of the California Department on Aging's Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia Advisory Committee, where he advocates for caregiver education, inclusion, and systemic support for California's Master Plan on Aging.
