Dr. Alison Abraham is a Professor in Epidemiology and Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She holds an MS in Biomedical Engineering, an MHS in Biostatistics, and a PhD in Epidemiology. She has worked for over 18 years leading health research. Her current research and advocacy centers on aging and sensory health, communicating to researchers, policy makers, and the community about the ways in which sensory loss can be a barrier to healthy aging. She is a passionate advocate for empowering individuals and communities to age well and age happy, focusing on personally meaningful health outcomes, building resiliency, and maximizing quality of life. Dr Abraham is the Principal Investigator of several large studies of eye disease and vision loss in aging communities, with an emphasis on adults aging with HIV. She works with the Colorado Health Network to integrate aging services and geriatric care models into traditional HIV services, including vision and hearing screening and access to glasses and hearing aids.
